Second Verse, Same as the First

So now it is time to start the preparations for Hawaii 50.2!  Normally in October to celebrate the anniversary of Suzann's birth, this year it is going to be in September.  Why?  Because September is a three pay check month.  Plain 'n' Simple.

So, when to go, when to go?  The big Marion Popcorn Festival is the weekend after Labor Day.  I will probably leave Colorado that weekend, but not be to Marion in time.  Dahum.  And then I need to schedule around the True Value Show or the Washer and Dryer Show, whatever it is, but Suzann, Mark and Charlie will be there.  I needs me a social secretary.  Or a party planner.  Wait, we already have one of those!

And You Know the Trip is Over

When I put the magnets up on the board.

Cross Country with the Kids

For all you Charlie fans and who here isn't?  Seriously, I want to know if you dont love Charlie.
He found the snack stash!

Pictures!

I tried to do this last night and it got all wacky-doo on me, so here goes attempt deux.

Me and the Charlie @ Starbucks!  Really no need for caffeine for him!

Check out Mark's Tommy Bahama hat!  Better, check out those guns on me!  :)
Dad sez: "Right hand turns on red are legal in all states."  True, except where there is this sign.  You know, this one that is at the intersection where you turned right on red.
Hey look, Brian drove to PHX to see us!  I didnt want him to feel left out of the FRANtasic fun of the FRANDANGO, so I created some Brian head puppets.
Best. Margarita. Never.  Notice the long sleeve shirt, the sweater vest. and the phone lassoed around her neck.  Going to get her a Franny-Pack for her wallet.  Either that or super glue it to her head.  Oh yeah, and it was 90 degrees out.  And that is about all of the "best ever margarita" she drank.  This is post-pebble-in-her-shoe-that-she-had-to-stop-everything-to-get-it-out episode.
Three of your hosts for Wearn-a-Palooza Lite.
Whenever there is a camera, the Franster gets this perma-grin.  Hideous.  Also, that is Saint Doug of the Downtrodden.  The man has got to be just exhausted.
 Me and the Douger.
 Add Suzann....
 and some Charlie....
and finally, add some Morgan and don't forget Brian!!!

This is a Test

I want to see if my upload to You Tube works.  If it does, take notice of the talking Mexicans (the whole time) and the screaming kid.

My Love Letter to the City of Phoenix Was Returned to Sender

Yeah, I am back home.  It was warmer in Castle Rock on Monday than it was in PHX.  Who'da thunk that?  Arizona was overcast and rainy.  I guess they need it.  I had no problem with it.  One interesting observation that I had was that PHX drivers to not FREAK OUT when it rains.  Here in Denver, drivers just shit their pants and hit the brakes whenever it even looks like it is going to rain.

The flight home on UA was fine.  And quick.  I mean seriously quick.  I am guessing an hour 15 in the air.  Heard the tailwinds were just zipping us along.  However, any time we made in the air was lost on the ground getting to the gate.

In a perfectly Jim moment, I am both texting Steve as we are on final (he didnt believe I could get a signal, but I did) and looking for my car key.  Found them and (this is the "winner!" part) I left them on the seat in the plane.  D'OH!  I found this out (fortunately) while I was still in Concourse B, and not at Baggage Claim.  I went back to the gate and they had found them and they were just sitting there, waiting on me after I passed the "what kind of car is it" test.

So the trip from DIA to the Parking Spot (that literally is the name) was no fun.  It is all the way on 38th off of Tower Road, about a 15 minute drive, made worse by 4 couples of golf club toting seniors that got back from Vegas.  I got to hear all about their voyages at the tables.  Honestly, weren't they there?  Why do they have to reiterate it?  The lady next to me stunk.  The van driver was this girl who looks like the Happy Home People TV commerical lady with the HUGE mouth, only the driver was on Puppy Uppers.  Everything was loud and perky.  Seriously made Katie Couric sound like a homeless woman.  Shame I never have a few bucks in my wallet to give them a tip.

My wallet once had money in it, and it didnt know what to do.  When I got it new at Target, I had to introduce it to money.  "Now wallet, this is money.  You won't see that much of it, so dont get too attached."

It actually took me longer to get to Castle Rock from DIA than it did from PHX to DEN.  Figure that one out.

Got some more pictures coming, will post them when Suzann gets back to Ohio.  If they live to tell the story.  Mark, Suzann, Morgan and Charlie are all piling in the Escape and driving back to Columbus tomorrow.  Have your cell phones ready to TEXT!!!  Once Suzann gets the magic of e-mail back to normal that will allow her to send pictures, then I will certainly relay them on.  Because I know you are dying to see pictures of me.

Oh yeah, the "Return to Sender" thing.  Girl, let me tell you.  Phoenix as a whole is lovely.  Some people I met were very nice (at the gym), and others were so stuck on themselves they were like a Post-it pad.  Get it?  Ha ha, I know, I am a laugh riot.  Seriously, they have their noses so far up their asses that it just ain't right.

Will I return?  Oh yeah, I will.  But more than ever, I will stick to my motto "No expectations, no letdowns".

Now let me get some sleep and rest from my vacation.

Buffalo. Not the city in New York

A discussion at dinner the other night:

Mark:   The Ashland paper has the "Best of Ashland" voted by its readers.  The best Mexican restaurant was Taco Bell.

Jim:      When I moved west, i noticed that the meat at Taco Bell was much spicier than back in the midwest.

Fran:   Do they add buffalo?
